Really nice indeed. One suggestion though - remove the blue frame. It doesn't fit with the game.

o, i dunno; looks kinda nice

It seems a bit of a intense blue, kind of distracting. Maybe just tint it way back or make it semi transparent.

That looks really good. Reminds me of waverace (?) for mac.

Howdy guys.
Here is a link to a playable version. Mostly just driving the boat around and picking a few things up right now. The arrow keys move the boat and the h key toggles off the radar.

I really dig the graphics and sweeping camera stuff.

When I started the game up in windowed mode, the arrow and select UI controls were cut off, so I was stuck at the game menu until I went full screen.

I also think the bounding sphere or box you're using for collision detection is too large, because my boat would bounce off things when it looked like I wasn't close to hitting them.

There also needs to be more visual information to inform you where the track is exactly.

But this is shaping up to be a cool game. Was it originally targetted as an entry for the 21DL contest?

Thanks for the feedback.
It is going to be "Checkpoint" racing, so there is no track per-say, just a racing area.
I'll tighten up that bounding area.

Looks really cool! Here's some feedback so far:

- Controls are really tight. It's fun as hell to drive around.

- At the fountain, turning too close to the fountain causes it to obstruct the camera. Other than that the camera work is great.

- Don't make the boat bounce off the powerups or checkpoints when the player runs over them. They should go straight through- no need to penalize them by stopping them.

- Does the AI player have the same controls as I do? It seems he goes on a set track at set speeds. He also seems to go through boxes, and colliding with him only sends me flying.

- This is screaming for some splashy water effects.

- It would be so freaking cool to hit ramps and jump from fountain to fountain :) And design wise, if you throw in some ramps, it would rock to have the boat splash under the water for a bit on the landing.

- Got any weapons planned? :D

- (EDIT) Let me second the kill-the-border request. It's making me claustrophobic.

Thanks Justin.
I've been working on some water effects. ;-)

The AI player is just spinning in a circle right now, as I settle on the method I'm going to take with it's programing.

I've been thinking about weapons, as powerups. pick up enough powerup energy and you can drop a special (themed by boat of course).

I'm updating boarder too.

I need a good monster truck announcer voiceover artist...

Would powerup energy be the same as battery power? Would be interesting to see the same meter apply to fuel, health, turbo, and weapon ammo, all at once.

Hehehe, yep. It's all about the copper tops!

ick, can't open it. I can open up /other/ anark things, but not this one. The first time, the loading bar does nothing. the second time, it doesn't even open.

running 10.3.8, 600 mhz G3 imac, 128 SDRAM.

Hmmm. It is using Anark 3.0. It sounds like you might have the 2.5 player installed on your system and for whatever reason, it is trying to open in that.

Here are the requirement specs:
Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or later

128 of RAM or more

Any graphics card that supports OpenGL 1.2.1 or later Â*

QuickTime 6.4 or later

Duane

is there any way to check for the player?

Is it just me or is does it take a ridiculously long time to load? Long enough that I could come here, right this message and it's still not done.

cgoran

Has it loaded yet? ?
How long did it take?

FreakSoftware

I gave up (it was open for 2-3 minutes and nothing had changed), but now it won't even open, just like Nayr has said. I don't have any Anark stuff on here. I've never even heard of it till now.

well, I'm glad that I'm not alone in not being able to play this...

Does it work? :)

It seems to be working for almost everyone. Please let me know if you are still encountering problems. If you do, it would be great to know what type of video card you are popp'n.

same. exactly, in fact. Maybe we just need more memory...? 128 here...

FreakSoftware

No, I definitely have enough RAM. I have 1.25 gigs and had pleeeenty free (over half a gig). Gigs of HD space too.

The Anark installer startups up classic's QuickTime which obviously doesn't work. In other words, I can't install it.

ok, I can play it because I installed the internet plugin. It is of course slow, and won't accept user input... :(
