I just wanted to know because it may be possible and *cough* easy *cough* to port if I can get it plus, a friend and I are kind of desperate to get a new drawing/painting for fun app on the Mac. So, anyone got a way?

(MS-Paint is a little more powerful than AppleWorks, you know? ;) )

No it isn't at all. Appleworks does way more than MS Paint.

You can also look at these freeware ones:

Seashore (http://seashore.sourceforge.net/)
The Gimp (http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net/)
Pixen (http://www.opensword.org/Pixen/)
Teal (http://www.unspacy.demon.co.uk/software/)
µPaint (http://www.supercable.es/~cuenca/mpaint.html)

First off I dont think microsoft would ever open source anything.... well cause they suck.

Second the legal concerns porting a microsoft program outside of microsoft would most likely tie you up in court for the next 100 years, cause we know how much microsoft likes to sue.

Third Apple might have something to say about another microsoft based app brought over to compete with appleworks.

You'd be surprised how many very cool people there are at MS (even at a high level) despite their cruddy corporate face.
