Hey! Im looking for people to work on making a blitzmax game with me! Let me know if your interested, we would be working unpaid, for fun and experience.
Goal: To have a good time making something we enjoy.
Project Idea(s): Are open, if you have time and want to make something, then we will figure out what kind of game, etc. After-all, the goal is to make something we enjoy!
Projects I dont want to make:
An expansive RPG.
A emotionally rending epic anything.
A racing game (though if its a really cool idea, I'm open to it)
Let me know if there's anyone else here who is going on summer vacation, and enjoys making games!

Try stating the goal of your projects, and requirements etc. Also, what you will be doing.

@whogben: sounds like a project eminently suitable for 21 Days Later ;)

First of all: You found Sophie's choice emotionally rending / epic? I couldn't stand Sophie or the creepy philosopher - she was just so.. gullible and dumb throughout everything, lol, in the early chapters some guy sneaks into her house and leaves something in her room while she is sleeping and she doesn't seem the slightest bit concerned.
Anyway, maybe im just prejudiced against people breaking into my house and coming into my room while i sleep.
But, back to topic! I have a few ideas for games that sort of taste like a blend of EV Nova, Command and Conquer and huge battleships. Anyway, maybe im paranoid, but im afraid if I post them they will get swiped by someone with more talent than me, so we can talk online or by email, my SN is RenderedOne. What kind of games would you like to make? (Besides a version of Sophies Choice where you can ambush that sneaky philosopher, and retrain his dog with the help of a kilo of cocaine to attack people :ninja:  :ninja: )

You are thinking of Sophie's World, he is thinking of Sophie's Choice. What ever happened to making a game with me?
Over a year ago, I got a similar offer from Whobgen that was never carried out. :\

First, thanks, I was thinking of Sophie's world, sorry dlurie.
Second, I searched a log of your posts but couldn't find the project your talking about, but where my projects have failed, there have really been only two reasons:
1) Picking too ambitious a project, or part-way through realizing that the idea for it really wasn't good or original enough to make it worth the effort, and moving on to something else.
2) Picking a project believing that I have more time available to work on it than my parents will in fact allow me to spend on it - this killed my UDG entry last summer and many other projects in the past. My parents prevented me from working on or taking on new projects during the school year for the last few years as high school wrapped up, to prevent any risk of my games time cutting into my schoolwork.
From projects that died from #1, I have learned to be careful, produce little moch-games, etc to make sure a project is both compelling and within my realistic capabilities before taking it on. Projects hopefully wont die from #2 for a while, as I have gotten into college now, and will be sharing my time between gamedev and summer-work before moving out of the house, and hence out of my parent's effective range.
Shivers, any link or anything to the old project? I'm interested to see what happened.

whogben: I do Blitzmax, as well as cartoonish graphics, and would be happy to join your effort. To war!

You instant messaged me, it wasn't done through iDG persay. I believe you wanted to do a space game in Shockwave. I made multiple space-ship sprites that were never put to use.

I apologize. I looked back in my AIM logs and only found a few sprites, some of the convos were lost probably - they were really nice sprites, congrats! Are you still interested in a project?
Diordna, what kinds of games would you be interested in making?

Alas, I'm not. I don't mean to cast aspersions on your conviction here, I was more just interested in where that project went because we never called it off. Anyway, can you send me the sprites that you still have? I can't find them.

Sprites sent. Looking through the logs, it looks like from Dec 2 to Dec 13 I could only get in contact with you once, and I guess I just gave up after that. The conversations that resume on the 13th don't mention the project anymore. Anyway, very nice sprites, seeya around and GL in the future.
