Has anyone taken a look at The Mac Xcode 2 Book yet?

I'm just loading up my Amazon shopping basket and was surprised to see it was only £13.99. Is it worth getting as there are no reviews on the Amazon site for it yet.

Some devs bought the book because it shows up in our sales figure -- though they might not be part of this community (i.e. they bought it from another link that credited us.)

If you are in the market for an Xcode book, you might want to speak to Mark S, since he just completed one (and onlike many programming books, the cover doesn't suck ;) )

Having read the table of contents for The Mac Xcode 2 Book, the difference between that book and mine are the tools covered. The Mac Xcode 2 Book spends most of the book on Xcode and Interface Builder. My book spends more time on profiling, OpenGL, and debugging tools. If you want to learn about tools like Shark, MallocDebug, and OpenGL Profiler, you'll prefer my book.

There was a discussion about this book recently on the YahooGroups macsb list... they panned it pretty badly.

This is the meat of it, makes you go "ouch"...

All said, I would not recommend the book unless you were an absolute newbie that's never used an IDE before. That's my 2 minute review at least. I've been meaning to write a full review on my blog, but have held off since it would require me to finish reading it. Not something I feel like putting myself through at this point.

I'm needing something I can read will away from the computer and I don't fancy the idea of printing out hundreds of pages.

You can buy the printed book online and have it shipped to the UK. The one negative is international shipping can take a while, up to 15 business days. When I get the index finished, the print version will be available.

That is a shame. The other negative is international shipping on books ends up nearly being as expensive as the book :( That is the very reason I'm not shipping any of my physical products out of the UK.

Andrew, the printer I'm going to use has free international shipping, which takes 10-15 business days. I know that's not fast, but at least you don't have to worry about the shipping costing more than the book.

Carlos, I haven't looked into European print on demand companies. The problems I've found with most print on demand companies is they charge high upfront fees and take a high percentage of the revenue, leaving the writer with 20-30% of the book's cover price.

Now that does sound tempting, especially as the US $ seems to be getting weaker again.
