Cool stuff skyhawk.

I think I did these in canvas 3.5 several years ago. They were my first and last pixel art...

Some sketches I made in a japanese oekaki thingy of characters for my new game... they would probably be better if I used photoshop or something but then I wouldn't get to host them for free on the net

The hero and the dwarf look really good! I think you should put a frown on the enemy -- I don't think he looks evil enough

Good work!

Where to start, where to start.....

(try downloading this one and looking at it with pictureviewer...)

(don't ask)

(I was experimenting with 'extending' four-frame animations, that's why his arms 'circle' around him)

(made from this outline: )

(edit on a river city ransom sprite with domokun)

Two sigs for someone at another forum:

Whew!

Note: These aren't necessarily in chronological order, I was just opening all of my ranchoweb folders and grabbing stuff out.

Who's Pete Fowler?

The bouncing monster is domo-kun, a mascot for a japanese tv station a few years back (If I'm correct)

You're correct, he was featured in several TV spots and a collection of postcards. A google search turns up: the Domo-Kun FAQ, the TV spots, and the post cards, along with a huge movie containing all of the tv spots.

A little history:
Domo-Kun made his first big appearance in the US in the form of the now-infamous "god kills a kitten" image(1), and has become frequent Photoshop fodder for the image manipulators extraordinare at sites like Fark (for example this image) and is mentioned in their FArQ. Domo-kun has since made an appearance on many main-stream news outlets, including CNN.

(1) it is reported by some that this image originally appeared without the caption block, but only gained popularity after someone (not the original creator) added that block.

Ah, I just found a new artist in this forum to look up to.. Sawtooth!

Good work. Do you or have you been to Japan? I also like the big tooth guy.

That image with the grass and dirt tiles, what was that for? Have you considered releasing some of your work for the community here? The coders here are starving for artists/artwork.

Hey, thanks!

No, I haven't been to Japan. I find Asia incredibly interesting, but I don't think I'll be going there any time soon. My brother has been all over Asia (and Europe, too), so I have a very general idea of culture and locations and the likeónot much else, though.

As for the tiles, I made them for no specific reason. I want to be able to create all sorts of videogame graphics, so I figure that tiles are logical step in the pixelart vein of graphics creation. I'm working on trying to make it look as good as possible while making it as efficient as possible (as few colors as possible, the least number of tiles possible).

Starving coders! Dear me! If I ever get the time, I might get around to making a set. The first half of February isn't looking goodómaybe later. But I have an awful lot of stuff lying around my hard drive, and I could be able to cobble together something. What's the submission process?

EDIT:

More stuff! Forgot I had it uploaded!

The following are outlines by others, colored by hand by me:

Whoah, didn't notice the resemblance.... but I see it now. The major interpretation for me will still be a turd with a jacket, though.

If you want to submit something to me, stuff-it. Include your real name, email, as well as the license you release it under (like Artistic, iDG License etc..) or state it is public domain, any readmes, etc... Also provide a short description. If you have a website, let me know as well in the email.

Cheers

These are all kind of small, the html is off, so I can't blow them up. I'm just getting some pixel skills for my upcoming platformer.

Walk cycle for my game, this is a progression, if you care:

Sawtooth, it's nice to see a fellow pixelator here!
