Development of a 2D game [Inquiry] - joshuacaputo - Jun 7, 2009 03:12 AM
Hi, I am currently developing a fairly simple 2D game for the iPhone and iPod touch. I have been developing it solely with the frameworks and tools provided in the iPhone Development SDK from Apple's Developer Site.
Problem is I would like to develop this game using a game engine such as iTorque or Unity. I don't have the money for either and the whole reason I am developing this game is to make money.
I know about cocos2D, but I was wondering if there was anything else anyone has used and had a good experience with in the past for iPhone development. I just really know there is a simpler and better way I could be developing my game without all the heartache of making all my algorithms and maths from scratch.
Thanks in advance anyone who comes across this thread and can help.

this is probably bad timing, and sorta an old thing, BUT
71 squared has some amazing tutorials on building your very own engine.
Hope that helps you out
