So I'm in trouble. For my class, I've been given the assignment of creating a 3d game in which tilting the ios device left, right, forward, or backwards causes the terrain to turn in that direction. The problem is I've never worked in a 3d environment with IOS, and don't even know if it's possible using Xcode.
So.....Is it?

Possible? Of course.

The fastest way you'll be able to get this done is probably to use Unity, because for that simple of a task, there'd be minimal code involved. However, to run anything on an iOS device (Unity or not), you need to pay the $99/yr membership fee to Apple, which seems odd for a class to require.

How difficult would it be to do in scenekit without any prior experience?
Also the teacher didn't assign this. I came up with a half dozen ideas for my project and he and the entire class voted for this one.

If you don't have a paid iOS developer account but are not restricted to using Obj-C/Swift, you can make it using WebGL.

Combine something similar to this (open the link on your iPhone, drag to rotate):

With this (open the link on your iPhone, tilt to move the circle)
http://www.albertosarullo.com/demos/accelerometer/

First link is about 200 lines of javascript, second about 50.
