High Score Questions

I am adding a high score list to my iphone game and was wondering what the best approach is.

In general, I was simply going to use NSCoder to write out a NSMutableArray of scores, and store it in the <Application_Home>/Documents/ directory...

Is there a better approach?

Maybe use NSUserDefaults to persist?

Where is the best place to persist a high score file so that it isn't overwritten by app updates?

Should I be concerned about keeping it secure/encrypted?

For that matter, has anyone implemented an online high-score server?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

The cocos-2d for iPhone project implements an online high-score server. Also, I think there might have been a couple threads on that in the past year or so. Try doing a forum search for that.
