Hi first off I just want to say that I really love this website and that I read through tons of these forum posts just to learn tons 'o things.

Now I took a Java course this year in high school which taught me VB and Java. We stopped after we did classes in Java cause we ran out of time. Basically I want to program games on the mac and that is why I am here. I read a book on C and I pretty much understand it with the exception of pointers. I know that I need to learn Cocoa and Obj-C, and I found http://www.cocoadevcentral.com/ which is a great website by the way! For starters the code isn't the problem I get, it's just I have no clue how the heck to get a button in IB to work with code in Xcode. That is just about the only thing that doesn't make any sense to me. If someone could either tell me how to do that or point me in the direction of another good Cocoa or Obj-C tut site that would be great.

If you're using the dev tools that came with 10.5:

Apple recently did a major revamp to the way things work in Interface Builder for 10.5. While the improvements are great, the one negative side-effect is that all those tutorials and books out there explaining how to "wire" things up don't look and work quite like they did. I suspect you are not alone. I wish I had a good recommendation in this case, but I haven't been in the market for Cocoa learning materials in quite some time now and haven't stumbled upon anything useful lately either.

Welcome to the forums here!

Yea I am using the 10.5 tools. Like I noticed in one of the tutorials I read it seemed real easy to link the button and the code but I couldn't do it in my version of Xcode. And thank you for the warm welcome!

Looks like Apple's tutorial on it has been updated, so you should try that out (specifically you'll want to see: Defining the View: Building the User Interface):

You can find the getting started stuff at:
