Walk Cycle reference [Slightly flopping man junk]
Well I'm sure glad the penis is in there, otherwise I would've been completely lost
Chopper, iSight Screensavers, DuckDuckDuck: http://majicjungle.com
Looks like photography, I'd've been more offended if it'd been edited
'course, the female walk is substantially different. No good reference for that?

Yeah. Muybridge was kinda creepy, but his photos are a decent animator's reference.
"Yes, well, that's the sort of blinkered, Philistine pig-ignorance I've come to expect from you non-creative garbage."
Quote:A TRAGIC INTERLUDE
Muybridge's professional career was interrupted briefly by tragic events in his personal life. About 1872 he had married a young divorcee, Flora Shallcross Stone, who in April 1874 gave birth to a son, Floredo Helios Muybridge. Six months after the birth, Muybridge was given reason to believe that Floredo was not his son, but that of his wife's lover, Harry Larkyns. He shot Larkyns dead on 17 October 1874 and was imprisoned until his trial for murder in February 1875. After a brilliant defence by his lawyer Wirt Pendegast, Muybridge was acquitted and set off immediately on an expedition to Central America.
damne a silly guy !

It's pretty easy to make your own actually, using software like Poser 5 with its walk designer. I have been dabbling with the Walk Designer in P5 and rendered in Carrara 5.

I guess I should make one as seen from the side
You could always get people to walk for you and video tape it. That's what I plan on doing once I get to the point where I'm trying to animate people. (and no, I won't try to get them to take their cloths off...

True, but I see one problem, and that's because it's difficult to walk in place. You'll either have to dolly the camera alongside with it, or have them walk in a circle around you, and still track the camera, or you could have them walk on a treadmill/exercise machine I suppose, or do a wide shot and then recenter/track and crop out the unused background. (something you can actually do with Dogwaffle)
It's doable. But nowadays I don't know that it's the cheapest and fastest way to get there. On the other hand, some animation software doesn't do good with 4-legged monsters, i.e. Poser's walk designer works essentially only with bi-peds. You'll be able to make a T-rex walk with it, but not a giraffe ;-)
When I was doing the character animation for Water Tower 3D, I set my camera on a tripod, set the timer to take a video clip, and walked/ran/etc. in front of it. It actually worked surprisingly well, and is a reasonably good solution in a pinch.
I was working on a Flash animation once and to figure out how to animate the characters, my friend and I would just repeatedly do them over and over and over while the other one watched. Then we swapped jobs so when we came to animating them, we both could decide if something looked off. I just remember my family starring at us as we walked around the house for solid half hour trying to catch every nuance of the walk cycle.
