2D ring - should I use gluDisk, or glVertex2f?

I just now realized that he meant that the ring would scale in width, so a single image wouldn't work.

Just for my 2 cents: I made a quick game prototype that was drawn ENTIRELY out of gluPartialDisks, perhaps 1000 on screen at one time, and speed was not an issue on my 1ghz g4 imac.

If/when I make a "real" version of this game, I'm probably going to do it with glVertex2f's and "tesselate" the rings myself: small rings don't need as many subdivisions as larger ones, and I have to dynamically generate texture coordinates as well.
