Does anyone have a big folder of free sound effects? I remember on my old G4 I had most all of the iDevGames free sounds, but I lost them. Carlos, do you still have those resources or were they lost?

If anyone can share with me their big collection of free sounds or has a link to a bunch of them I would appreciate it, I am at the stage where I need to add sounds to Hydrothermal (which is almost done now).

Thanks for the links, I can never find a big .zip file of sounds which is what I was actually looking for, but those will do just fine.

I would recommend grabbing and archiving anything you might find useful - these things seems to come and go. Apple used to have about twice as many (and more useful) samples in AIFF format on the iMovie page, then they suddenly disappeared and put up those mp3's. Luckily I snagged all the AIFF's before that happened

Hmm, looks like soundsnap.com is now charging for membership. Tis a bait and switch. Have to pay for bandwidth I suppose.

FAQ says it's so they can pay contributors money.

The home page is misleading. It's $30 for *one* month, not $30 *per* month. An annual membership is $150. Not bad, but not spectacular either when it used to be free.

I purchased the Zillion Sounds CD a couple years ago. Problem is they are 8 bit sounds. There is this annoying noise hiss in the background which makes them unusable. So, I ended up going to soundsnap when it was free ...

with the time it takes to read all the sites ToS and EULA and blahblah and then find what you are looking for and see if the site really owns/created it and if you are free to use it. Or if you have to give them a link, or pay them a fee, or....

wouldn't it be easier to just make your own sounds?

and of course Audacity. Those two apps. and a usb mic and my macbook is how I plan on making my 40 or sound effects next week or so for my game i'm finally finishing soon (I hope).
