How do you make spaceships?
I make mine in Meshwork!

Check it out! Is there a faster way? A more suited program? Anyone?

That is good for next week's image of the week, so send it in.
If I were to make a model for a real time 3d game, I might use Meshwork. But if I were going to make something for a pre-rendered game, I wouldn't use it. I find Strata to be easy to use and good at making little sprites. Cinema4d and Carrara would also be good.
When I made those sprites we have in our download section, I simply downloaded some PD models, applied a simple texture, and then set the animation so that each frame would be a rotation of 15 degrees. I then saved the animation as single frame images. So, I get a ship that has enough frames to smoothly rotate in 360 degrees. Simple and fast way to get sprites.
How will you be using this model/sprite?

The space engine for my game Gunslinger Chronicles. It's an RPG whare you fly from planet to planet and do missions on the planetside FF6 style. It is a prerendered sprite with 72 rotation frames(my custom game engin's max) because it is about 100 pixels tall(the same size as the concept art).
OT:
the blue text on black background is really annoying and hard to read. I'd recommend changing it (Black on white is usualy best)

Hmm? Must be your screen
because I can read it just fine:?:

I don't have any problem reading it either, but I'd still suggest that you change it; it's generally not a good idea to put dark text on a dark background, since the lack of contrast inevitably makes the text more difficult to read. You should probably either use a lighter shade of blue or change the text to white or light gray.
Well, it might be a problem with PCs, because the contrast isnt good, both on my home PC and at school.
Anyways, following the rules of my software design course, those colors are wrong. It was just my 2 cents, take 'em or not.

yeah, and as a web designer...stick with opposite colors (i use super dark-on white or shuper whitish-on blackish)

That site is pretty stupid but has the easiest-to-read type I've ever seen.

i usually prefer dark on white and not white on dark because the human eye is lazy and looks at the dark space.

PS. Contest Ends on Monday.

I LIKE the blue on black. If a color changes, it's going to have to be the back, because that blue is the same color as the blue in the logo, and the logo looks best on black. I could use a brighter blue, but then it wouldn't match as well.

It's very unprofessional, though (no offense). In web design books, they say that the design on this page isn't good. I also wear glasses and the page puts alot of strain on my eyes.
Joseph: One of the best meshwork models I've ever seen.
I am working on a PHP redo of the site. I've still got a lot of work to do but I can tell you one thing: I'll look at my web books first
I don't know Matt, maybe we should try some other color combination? I'll email you.
