My experience with filing bugs with Apple, so far, has been that if it is actually a bug and not a feature request bug (aka complaint), they've gotten back to me, and resolved the bugs. I don't mean this to sound snooty, but if you own anything which runs iOS on it, it runs better now and it is easier to program for because I took the time to file some bugs about problems I ran into.

I understand where you're coming from about it being a real hassle at times, so I don't want to sound all religious about it or anything, but when I file bugs, I don't look at it like I'm doing Apple a favor, as much as I am doing other developers a favor by filing them, and hoping other developers in return do me the favor by going out of their way to file bugs too! This good-will works both ways, I hope Wink

It's not my experience that http://bugreport.apple.com/ is hard to fill out -- if you've got a reproducible test case, you attach a binary, a system profile, instructions for how to reproduce the bug given the binary. If you know more (eg. works OK on particular hardware) or can upload the source, good. Takes about 5 minutes, given you've already done the work to reduce it.

Reporting bugs is easy. I've also seen most bugs/defects fixed, sometimes not too long after. The more people report it, the more seriously Apple take it. They'll also mention if it's been reported before (tagged as duplicate).

I've only reported one bug and it was fixed quite quickly. I was emailed back and asked to confirm the fix. I was pretty pleased with Apple's process.

Unity3D on the other hand... Between Scott and myself we've reported like 50 bugs, and maybe 4 of them have been fixed. (I think a few more were fixed for Unity 3, haven't tried it yet though)

Yeah, and they didn't fix a single one of the bugs that we submitted with trivial replication steps or code. -_- In fact, there is no evidence that they've even looked at the bugs we submitted in the last year...
