I contacted Carlos regarding this and he said to post a thread. So...

Would there be any interest in some kind of 1/2/3 week game-making contest for the end of July and beginning of August? Alex(ThemsAllTook) suggested a time/space manipulation themed short contest.

Opinions? Ideas? Random Insults?

Sounds like a nice idea. It'd be really cool to see what people come up with.

I think three weeks might be a bit too much; I think it might make people feel they'd have to invest too much time.

Really? Seems like a pretty good length to me. Just long enough to have a polished product (if you keep the scope down, that is), but not so long as to completely lose direction halfway through.

And it neatly fits the traditional "21 Days Later" title...
Time manipulation may be beyond the capabilities of current technology though.

Time and theme are very much alterable at this time. And it also depends on how much interest there is.

That said, I think 3 weeks sounds great.

I'm okay with three weeks, I've only been around for one week ones so far. I forgot that three week contests used to be common here.

And I think the theme is totally awesome. Maybe someone will come up with the next Braid.

No, no, save Sanity for when I've got my Mac Pro and I'm not in Afghanistan. That theme's too interesting for me to miss out on because of this damn war xD

I'd be interested to see a challenge using my graphics engine.
It may point out flaws and allow me to fix it. Not to mention show me how flexible it really is.
I'm just tossing it out there.

I do really like the sanity idea ...

That actually sounds really interesting... The only game I can think of right now that uses sanity is the GameCube game Eternal Darkness, and it was one of the cooler parts of the game.
