3D Modeler Cheetah3D 3.4 Released

Written by Mark Bishop | Wednesday, July 26, 2006

Cheetah3D 3.4 has been released.

Cheetah3D 3.4 introduces many new features, like animating objects along spline paths (which makes it extremely easy to create fly-through animations, or to animate a car traveling along a road), as well as workflow enhancements, like the ability to drag and drop objects within the scene transformation hierarchy without changing those object’s global positions, and like the ability to lock the parameters of a single object, tag, or material (so if you are done with an object, just lock its parameters and you no can longer accidentally modify it.)

Last but not least, Cheetah3D 3.4 seriously accelerates the OpenGL preview; scenes with many small objects may now render up to 10x faster.

Major changes in Cheetah3D 3.4:

  • Added “Target” tag
  • Added “Spline Tracking” tag
  • Added Coord System Tool
  • Added support for drag and drop of objects within the transformation hierarchy without changing those object’s global positions
  • Added ability to lock the parameters of an object, tag, or material
  • Faster OpenGL preview when working with many small objects
  • Other small bug fixes and enhancements
