Texas Independent Game Conference, Austin - 22nd-23rd July

Written by Mark Bishop | Friday, July 21, 2006

As an independent game developer you already know how hard it is to survive in an increasingly competitive market. The Texas Independent Game Conference programme features leading independent game developers as speakers, covering the challenges and issues you are facing:

  • Where is the industry heading, what is driving the industry, and what can you do to take advantage of where it is heading?
  • Where will you find the best opportunities, and what are the likely rewards of these opportunities?
  • What is happening in the mobile gaming market – is the party over?
  • How can I get funding for my ideas and for my company?
  • What is the future of casual gaming?
  • What are the trends in on-line distribution?
  • How do I protect my games and my IP?
  • How do I get a good publishing/distribution deal?

Two keynote speakers, Greg Costikyan and Warren Spector, will deliver their forthright views on what is wrong with the industry and how it needs to change.

Registration is just $105 for both days, or just $75 if you are a student or professional academic. This is a great opportunity to network with your fellow indie game developers and hear some outstanding insights from people who are prepared to share their stories of success (and pain) with you.

Saturday 22nd July, 7:30pm-9pm – Game Demo Party! Bring your game demos (finished or unfinished) and share them with everyone at the show. Publishers and developers will be there checking out your work – this is your chance to get your work in front of everyone! (Bring your own computer or laptop.)
